peter: i definetly have some yin-yang going on in this one. i forgot to mention it originally (and just updated the post), but i also added a dash of cayenne to the dipping sauce :-)

manggy: thank you! the foil actually worked well (just unrolled the 2nd one tonight) ... I was too impatient yesterday and was trying to unroll it too soon :-)

geggie: now, how do we know if your pics look bad, we haven't seen them! :-)

alejandra: i'm going to try these out with some friends next weekend, fingers crossed that they're a hit. Thanks for stopping by!

kevin: thanks -- let me know if you make them!

Well arent' you fancy. And dammit, you take great pics. Mine look horrid. I'm too embarassed to even post them.

Back to the dessert, I, too, am not a banana fan, other than just eating a banana or banana bread, I don't like banana flavored stuff. But, this looks great, I'd be willing to try it.

That's very creative! Very inspired, it's the kind of thing that a pastry chef might come up with (I mean, it even has a dipping sauce!). I'm neither Japanese nor Thai so I'm comfortable with whatever you call it ;)
I'm thinking of ways you can skip the foil without having to resort to nori, but besides rice paper I'm at a loss right now. Maybe use a sushi mat?

I've had this kind of dessert at buffets and I've liked it. I can imagine this has goto to better than buffet fare.

As for adding crunch to it, it sounds consistent with yin-yang..soft and crunch.
