Do you really want to know about me?

by Allen on September 8, 2008 Print This Post Print This Post    Email or Bookmark

The mysterious dynamic duo affectionately known as ts and js of [eatingclub] vancouver slung this meme over the wall to me. I haven’t done one in awhile so decided to give it a go.

And, the very first question stumped me … ‘last movie I saw in a movie theater’. I couldn’t remember so I opened up our ‘memory jar’ to research it. Umm, let’s just say it’s really a big jar into which I drop all of our ticket stubs, old boarding passes, paper mementos from trips or special occasions. Yes, I’m really one of those people. Every couple of years we crack open the jar and make a collage from the most interesting bits and stroll down memory lane. Unfortunately, I have the pink/blue receipt from our movie tickets on June 7th but it doesn’t show the movie name on the receipt.

Last Movie I Saw In A Movie Theater?
Well, couldn’t remember the last one but we did see Sex in the City on May 31st :-)

What Book Are You Reading?

The Sharper Your Knife, The Less You Cry

Favorite Board Game?
I’m more of a card guy but I do enjoy a board game that we bought from a local vendor, The Real Game of Life. It’s much more colorful than normal Life.

Favorite Magazine?
Right now it tends to be Money magazine … I know, how boring is that? But I’m learning all sorts of tips and tricks to managing my money though … so I may be boring, but I’ll be rich rich rich :-)

Favorite Smells?
Spicy things, like cinnamon and freshly ground nutmeg

Favorite Sounds?
Ocean waves crashing on the shore, I know … it sounds cheesy but I grew up inland … so I love me some good ocean sounds.

Worst Feeling In The World?
Regret, because you could have done things differently

First Thing You Think of When You Wake?
“Should I go to the bathroom or start the coffee?” Coffee usually wins.

Favorite Fast Food Place?
Taco Bell, hands down. I haven’t had it in over a year and it kills me to think about it. I miss them. I secretly think they must miss me too.

Future Child’s Name?
Well, this meme is certainly presumptive. The only seeds I’m planting are in the garden and I don’t name my vegetables before eating them :-)

Finish This Statement—“If I Had a Lot of Money,”
Why is this meme assuming I’m poor? If I had a lot of money … I should probably say that I’d be philanthropic … but I’d likely just buy more expensive things.

Do You Drive Fast?
I’m a 10mph over the speed limit kind of guy

Do You Sleep With a Stuffed Animal?
I sleep with a real animal, non-stuffed

Storms—cool or scary?
Cool if I’m inside, scary if I’m outside

What Was Your First Car?
It was a dirt brown Oldsmobile Omega … tragically ugly — its nickname was ’shit-brown’

Favorite Drink?
Vernor’s Ginger Ale (native to Michigan), spicy and delicious

Finish This Statement—“If I Had the Time, I Would…”
Be an artist – unfortunately, it doesn’t pay the bills and I don’t find as much time as I’d like to pursue artistic endeavors.

Do You Eat the Stems on Broccoli?
Yep, they are delicious

If You could Dye your Hair Any Other Color, What Would It Be?
I have dyed my hair alot back in college: pink, blue, and once green. Oh yeah, and bleach blonde white. OH, and black once too. Let’s just say I was a ‘hair-whore’ for a few years. I’m afraid the dye seeped into my scalp and tainted my brain, so now I go with my natural brown color.

Name All the Different Cities In Which You Have Lived
Well, not so much cities as towns … Fowler (MI), Allendale (MI), Grand Rapids (MI), Austin (TX), San Jose (CA) … and someday Vancouver (BC)

Favorite Sport to Watch?
Women’s gymnastics — floor routines

One Nice Thing About The Person Who Sent This To You
ts and js are always surprising me with interesting and intriguing foods/flavors (i.e. jalapeno cupcakes)

What’s Under Your Bed?
Storing stuff under your bed is bad feng shui, there’s nothing under my bed

Would You Like to Be Born As Yourself Again?
Only if I knew that I was being reborn as myself and could do things differently, otherwise there’s no fun in doing it again the same way …

Morning Person or Night Owl?
Morning, bright and early

Over Easy or Sunny Side Up?
Over easy, no runny white stuff … yuck

Favorite Place to Relax?
Home … I can go for days without leaving the house

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor?
Pistachio

Of All the People You Have Tagged, Who Is the Most Likely to Respond First?
Ahhh, alas I won’t be tagging anyone specifically … I’m not a tagger. But, if you’d like to be tagged — then consider it done – *your’e it*. Post this meme to your site and tell the world all about yourself!

My first car was brown too – we called it the poo-mobile! Hehe.

Interesting! Coffee ALWAYS wins in the morning…lol!

O.M.G. The coffee or pee thing has me laughing out loud over here. My dear husband is looking at me funny but the truth of the matter is that is EXACTLY what I was thinking.

Allen, you once lived in Allendale? That’s so funny. Okay, not HA-HA funny, but still. Yikes, if you have any table scraps, just send them over. I blew a lot of money over a few books that were on sale– but once you add up the prices…
I suppose on some nights, Joe is stuffed, isn’t he? (With food, of course.)
I could stay in the house for days too! That’s the best way to save money in my case (because I don’t usually buy online). Any prejudice against Men’s gymnastics? Ha ha. I really enjoyed reading this Allen!

Christie@Fig&Cherry: haha — we both had poo-mobiles!

Peter G: sometimes there isn’t time for coffee to win, but most days it does :-)

Christie: Glad I could give you a good laugh – great minds think alike!

Manggy: Seriously, Allendale. My undergrad school is in Allendale (gvsu.edu). A strange coincidence :-) Save your money, you already have too many books! And yes, I’m predjudiced against men’s gymnastics … they don’t get to use music during their floor routines, if there’s no music what’s the point of doing a floor routine??

It was Indiana Jones 4. I couldn’t remember either. I couldn’t find past movie listings on the internet but I was able to locate the ticket purchase and the movie title on my Quicken file. Yes, the movie was THAT good.

Aysegul:
Thanks for stopping by!

Nate:
Hey there, neighbors! We live in Willow Glen (San Jose) but often eat or shop in Cupertino (Loon Wah, Broadway Bistro, Ranch 99, Marina, etc.). I haven’t come across too many food bloggers in our area so it’s great to meet you. I’ll make sure to add your blog to my list!

Thanks for playing this presumptuous meme! =)

I guess you’re adult enough to be able to hold it when you go for the coffee.

LOL This is really funny, especially the sleeping with a real animal part. Do tell! :-p

12 Nate September 9, 2008 at 5:21 pm

Willow Glen, even closer! We should meet up sometime.

When did you become a Featured Publisher? After June? How come you didn’t come to the FoodBuzz dinner at Gochi’s Fusion Tapas in June?

13 Y September 10, 2008 at 8:25 pm
