Another great (late) cookbook author for gluten-free recipes is Bette Hagman. IMO, her bread recipes especially are unparalleled. But, Carol's pizza is my favorite!

You know, in all my time at the Philippine General Hospital, I don't think celiac disease has been diagnosed a single time. Makes me think it's either rare or severely underdiagnosed-- I wonder how many miserable people here actually have celiac disease?

This post comes at a great time for me. This weekend, we are starting our son, who we think is autistic, on a GF diet. I'm grateful for another resource to look at. Thanks so much!

(are there bread machine recipes in it?)

I feel for your brother. The beginning is the hardest when going gluten free but then it can be a gift! I wish him well and you can send him my blog. Thanks for the review.

Hi Allen,
Oh, your poor brother! He has my deepest sympathies. I haven't checked out this Fenster book, but she is very well known in celiac circles.

My favorite GF cookbooks are by Donna Washburn and Heather Butt (here's a link to my own homage: http://mjennings26.wordpress.com/2008/04/21/homage-to-donna-washburn-and-heather-butt/) and Darina Allen's Healthy Gluten-free Cooking. The latter has some awesome dessert recipes.

Oh, and great blog!

Love the description 'clutching my morning coffee', hehe!

Seriously, thanks for the heads up on this book. My mother in law has recently been diagnosed as gluten free and I bought her 'Gluten Free Girls' book. Here's another one I can get! Cheers!

Allen: Thanks for ordering my new book, 1,000 Gluten-Free Recipes. I will send you a coupon for a sample of Expandex, one of the ingredients I use in some of the recipes, if you will give me your postal mailing address. Thanks again and enjoy the book.
