Difficulty Finding Smoked Paprika?

Am I the only one who can never find smoked paprika? I’ve tried my local grocery store, as well as a gourmet store without any luck. It’s not localized to Canada as I had a hard time as well in the US.

Fortunately, it can always be ordered online. I use it religiously in soups, stews, or chili to give a light smokey flavor – there’s nothing quite like it.

Be warned, a little goes a long way. Just a little dash on top of a thick lentil or split pea soup will make a world of difference.

I’ve also mixed a bit with cream cheese, pimentos, and green onion to make a delicious sandwich spread or cracker dip.

Hey,
Just found you site this morning looking for pasta with bean recipes. I have one question.
WHY?!
Why do you have to have SO MANY delicious looking and easy to make recipes? I only get a chance to cook a couple of times a week. What I do cook has to go for several meals or else I end up under the Golden Arches. How is a person to choose? I am hungry and have to go shopping now. Its YOUR fault!
I am kidding of course. Thank you. I can see I will be busy in the next few weeks.

If I happen to be visiting a town with a penzeys, I’m in luck, otherwise its down to Williams Sonoma. Expensive but good!

Where are you in Canada? It is in my local Save-on-foods here in BC. No problem finding it.

I go to the bulk section in my grocery store for this paprika. I like that I didn’t have to pay much b/c I just scooped up how much I needed. I have the Spanish smoked paprika, too!

I dunno what you speak of – smoked paprika is fairly easy to find here in Manila ;)

Strangely I’ve never had a problem finding it here..1. because we have a Penzeys in town & 2. I think Super Target also carries it. I have found some many things at the Super Target the gourmet grocery store doesn’t have, like this & spelt flour, its crazy.

I think Meinhardt has them. For sure Bosa carries them. http://www.bosafoods.com/

Penzey’s Smoked Spanish Paprika is actually pretty good. I think you can order it online too!

I would think that Gourmet Warehouse has it as well

I’m pretty sure Galloways (in New West and Richmond) carry both smoked sweet and smoked hot paprika. You can also do online orders through their website at http://www.gallowaysfoods.com

One of my favorite ways to use smoked paprika is in a PBLT sandwich. Mix smoked paprika with natural chunky peanut butter, spread on toast and add lettuce and tomato.

I hear you…There are times I want to try a new recipe and have trouble finding a few things. I end up at 4-5 different stores to get what I want. Thank God for the internet =) Only issue is I am the type that gets the “I want it NOW!” mentality =)
