Betty Crocker Ginger Creams Vintage Ad

by Allen Williams on November 25, 2009

In addition to my fascination with vintage recipes, I am also intrigued by vintage advertisements for the interesting artwork and the glimpse into history the ads give us.

This vintage ad is from Betty Crocker during WWII and promotes a cookie recipe which, “Pack and ship well to servicemen.”

The cheerful woman in the Betty Crocker ad is surrounded by servicemen from different branches of the military. The recipe is promoted for its low sugar and shortening content which will allow the cookies to remain fresher, longer.

My favorite bit though is the line which reads, “Make a hit with men!” Ahh yes, food is always the way to a man’s heart.
